Let Me Entertain You

In our English lessons we will be using a range of texts, as well as stimuli such as images and film, to inspire children’s writing. The children’s literacy skills will be built upon, and applied, in topic lessons too.

In Maths the children will be covering a range of topics such as multiplication, division, fractions, decimal, percentages and arithmetic.
Don’t forget to use TTRS to practise your times tables!

During Autumn 2, we immerse the children into the world of Shakespeare through our topic ‘Let Me Entertain You’. The children will visit Stratford-Upon-Avon to learn about Shakespeare and his works. During their topic lessons, the children will be working on producing their very own Shakespeare Experience for the parents to celebrate the end of their topic.

learning beyond school

Helping your child improve

Reading regularly and questioning the children about the story and characters will help improve their reading. Asking the children to make predictions and inferences is a higher level skill which measures their understanding of the book.

Your child also has access to a paid SPaG website where different tasks will be set to consolidate learning in lessons. Please refer to the homework diaries for their individual log ins.

There are a number of ways to help your child improve in maths. Times tables games, such as TTRS, can be fun and tables are essential to understanding many areas of maths. It is essential for them to know all of their times tables up to 12 x 12. Involve them when discussing cost, time, distance or any other matters involving money.
