Year 6

Teachers : Mrs Bridges (6B), Mrs Welch (6W)
Teaching Assistant:  Mrs Gibbon

ENGLISH

As it is the run up to SATs week, the children will have slightly more of a focus on their reading and the spelling, punctuation and grammar aspects of their writing combined with some writing lessons that pull all of this learning together. Our inspiration for writing is a short animation called ‘Mourning Dove’ that will really allow the children to use emotive language and get them thinking about the specific vocabulary they are choosing.

maths

In maths, the children will be covering angles, shape and will be continuing to revise all the areas of the maths curriculum in readiness for the reasoning and arithmetic papers they will be sitting and to ensure they are ready for year 7. These questions will be in different forms so the children can apply a variety of strategies.

PE: Class 6B

6B We will be doing PE on a Thursday and Friday. Please could you ensure that you child has their PE kit with them on these days. It would be extremely useful if children could bring in a pair of gym pumps and a pair of trainers.

Learning Diaries and Keeping in Touch

Your child will be expected to still record their homework, spellings and reading in their diary. This is a fantastic resource for the children to use, but also key for parent and teacher communication. Please continue to read with your child, at least 3 times per week and record this in their diary with further comments.

homework

The children will be continuing to use their revision books, for reading, SPaG and maths homework, and will be given set pages for each one to complete each week. The children’s login details for their educational apps can be found in their learning diaries.
