what a wonderful world

Discovery

Our curriculum provides many opportunities for cross curricular links which allows various subjects to be taught through the same topic. In English we are becoming ‘endangered animal ambassadors’. This links to our topic ‘What a Wonderful World’.

We will be learning about endangered species: why they are in danger, what other organisations are doing to help them and how we can play our part. We will learn about recycling and how the smallest change can make a huge difference.

During our science lessons, we will be investigating animal classification. This will involve learning about the different groups animals can be sorted into and how to follow a flow diagram.

Throughout our maths lessons, we will continuing to learn about shapes, draw and interpret graphs and data as well as consolidating our core skills.

Anything you could do at home to support this would be very much appreciated.

learning beyond school

Extending the learning journey

Homework will be given out every Friday and will need to be handed in on Friday.

Every week children will need to:
Complete one activity from the homework grid
Read at least three times
Complete a task on Times Table Rock Stars.
Learn their key word spellings each week.

Other ideas you might like to try at home to support our topic are:
Visit the library.
Visit the nature centre.
Research questions you want answering.
Immerse yourself in the WWF website.
Download the Greenpeace VR app to learn how we can help save our planet.
